Ghost Town - Adam Lambert

I got a voice in my head that keeps singing, oh, my heart is a ghost town.

Ghost Town is a song recorded and co-written by American singer, songwriter and stage actor Adam Lambert, for his album, The Original High. It was released on April 21, 2015.

I first noticed Adam in the eighth season of American Idol in 2009. Than he released hit single Whataya Want from Me, for which he received a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Song Ghost Town, beside instruments, uses interesting idea. We can hear whistle, that gives us ghostly feeling (and it can be really addictive). At the beginning, beside this whistle, we can hear guitar chords. But later, at the chorus, it gets deep house bassline, perfect for the dance floor in the clubs.  Lyrics are halloween themed and are about break up, loneliness and heartbreak.

On the billboard by Jason Lipshutz, there is interesting post about this song and Madonna's song Ghosttown. "Hers is like a post-apocalyptic love song, mid-tempo, and mine's like an existential dance goth rave thing," says Lambert. So they share only song title.

Lyrics:

Died last night in my dreams,
walking the streets,
of some old ghost town,
I tried to believe,
in God and James Dean
but Hollywood sold out.

Saw all of the saints,
lock up the gates,
I could not enter,
walked into the flames,
called out your name,
but there was no answer.

And now I know my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town,

Died last night in my dreams,
all the machines,
had been disconnected,
time was thrown at the wind,
and all of my friends,
had been disaffected.

Now, I'm searching for trust,
in a city of rust,
a city of vampires,
tonight, Elvis is dead,
and everyone's spread,
and love is a satire.

And now I know my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town.

There's no one left in the world,
I'm gunslingin',
don't give a damn if I go,
down, down, down,
I got a voice in my head that keeps singing,
oh, my heart is a ghost town.

My heart is a ghost town,
oh, my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town,
my heart is a ghost town.
